Accessing Your COVID-19 Digital Certificate on Your Phone!

As more of Australia comes out of lockdown, talks of providing proof of vaccination are becoming the norm.

To help ease you out of lockdown and into freedom, we’ve provided you a handy little guide on how to access your digital certificate on your phone.

This is only available for those who have had both injections, but you can still follow the steps to access your immunisation history and be prepared for when you’ve had your second.

If you have Medicare.

If you have a Medicare card, your COID-19 Digital Certificate can be found here by logging into the press Plus Medicare app or Medicare online account via MyGov.

If you’re now of the age where you can’t be on your parent’s card anymore and you now need your own - click here.

For the Express app, simply login and under “services” you’ll see immunization history. This will provide you with all your past injections and allow you to access your COVID-19 Digital Certificate.

For MyGov, follow the below…

  1. Login or setup a MyGov account – most should have one as this is where you access ATO and Centrelink, but if not, you can create an account here.
  2. Link your Medicare to your myGov – you might’ve already done this, but if you haven’t, grab your Medicare card and follow the questions that myGov may ask.
  3. Once in your Medicare account, click ‘View immunisation history’ and select your name
  4. From here you can view your full history, plus access your COVID-19 Digital Certificate in PDF format. You can save this to your phone or if you have an iPhone, you can add to your Apple Wallet.

Pretty simple!

If you Don’t have Medicare

If you don't have Medicare, you can add your COVID-19 Digital Certificate on your phone using the Individual Healthcare Identifiers service (IHI service).

  1. Login or setup a MyGov account – most should have one as this is where you access ATO and Centrelink, but if not, you can create an account here.
  2. Select the Individual Healthcare Identifiers service and click "View immunisation history".
  3. From here you can access your COVID-19 Digital Certificate in PDF format. You can save this to your phone or if you have an iPhone, you can add to your Apple Wallet.

Not showing up?!

Never fear! If you certificate hasn’t shown up yet, but you’re fully vaccinated, there’s nothing to worry about. According to the Digital Health website, it can take a few days to appear.

However, if nothing is showing after 10 days call the Australian Immunisation Register on 1800 653 809 (Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm) and ask them to send your immunisation history statement to you. It can take up to 14 days to arrive in the post.
